A) go a head & enjoy it...
great planI have moved to egypt recently am interested in doing the nile cruise. any advice how best to book one?Q) should i use travel agent, or website? i need idea of prices for end of march.
A) Great choice, my first nile cruise was 15 years ago and I go at least once a year. I am in love :)
Anyway, enough about me. I tried many boats and I can tell you the best one is called the Nile Romance. It is clean, comfortable, great food and the crew is amazingly helpful. I strongly recommend it as the best cruise experience.
I usually call them by phone, the sales team speaks english and i simply book. Rate is in the range of $80-100 per person/ night all inclusive, including food and all the tours, so it is not too expensive, they even arrange for an airport pick up and can reserve the plane tickets so they make life simple.

http://www.tripadvisor.com/SearchForums?q=Thomson%20Celebration&returnTo=Day trips to Egypt from Cyprus????Q) Hi going to Cyprus this year and have heard they do day trips to Egypt? What prices am i to expect and what were your experiences...I've looked everywhere on the web but can only find 2-3 day cruises to Egypt from there...Thanks.
A) hi!! i took a trip from cyprus to egypt in october 2005 and is well worth it!! i went with my parents and my brother and we all loved it!!!
whatever you do, dont book it before you go because it will be double the price of what it is if you book it when your there. you can book it in small travel agents which are jst about everywhere.
the trip:
day 1: we were staying in protaras and caught the bus to limassol port. from there, we got on the boat. we sailed to egypt over night.
day2: early morning unfortunately!! we got off the boat at Port Said at about 7 and got in a convoy of several buses with armed guards (very cool i must say!) which took us to cairo. First stop was the pyramids and the sphynx which were amazing!! then we went to the Cairo museum and looked around. you have to go in the mummy room it is awesome! from there we went to a bazaar in which they show you how papyrus is made and try to flog it to you. i bought a fez outside on a stall just for fun. then we got back on the bus and went back to Port Said.
Wherever you go, you will have to be wary because there are lots of people begging for money and it can be quite intimidating. you'll see what i mean when you get there!!
day 3: arrive in cyprus after sailing back over night. arrive at about lunch time or late morning.

A) it's ok, as long as it is not an Egyptian passport. Israelis themselves enter EgyptEgypt - good travel book?Q) I'm going to Egypt with my family for Christmas. We are spending a week cruising up the Nile and 2 nights in Cairo and 5 nights in Luxor. We want to read up on all the history etc., before we go. Can anyone recommend a really good guide book?
A) You really should look as The Lonely Planet Guide to Egypt as an investment and an essential part of your" I need for Egypt" list and keep it handy all the time.
I still never go with out it in my bag.
If you are spending a while in Luxor Then I really couldn't suggest anything better than a relatively new handbook. That is superbly written and presented by world reknown Egyptologist Kent R. Weeks."The Illustrated Guide to Luxor".
A handy sized book that would serve the solo traveller as well as any hired guide.
It includes every tomb, temple and museum in the Luxor area.
Superbly illustrated and with easy to follow detailed maps. That allow you to easily locate all the major aspects of the tombs and temples.
It also gives detailed descriptions and information on the wall reliefs and other features.Including chronologies and the ancient history of the Luxor,Karnak The Valley of The Kings Dier el Bahri and surrounding significant areas
You would go a long way to find a better handbook written by a more respected contemporary authority.
In fact I am sure that a better handbook does not exist.any advice on egypt?Q) to be specific i am going on a nile cruise then to el gourna, i am after just general advice. for instance i am traveling with my girlfriend and her sister age 20,21 both very good looking blondes, will i get hassled all the time? i heard its a problem.
A) No you won't get hassled. The fact that you are with the girls will deter any of the young guys usually aged around 14-18 who think its macho to leer and say, what they strangely think is what the girls want to hear?
They are actually attempting to impress not insult.
I don't think you have to be concerned as they are not going to be interested or hassle you as a western male at all. Unless it is to try and sell you something.
If it does happen that they get a bit cheeky with the girls just walk over and politely say. "Would you like me to speak like that to your sister?"
Their retort will be stunned silence and a hasty apology.
They are not going to attempt to start a fight, they wouldn't be game as the tourist police are always everywhere.
Anyway it is just not the way things work in Egypt. Street fights in Egypt are usually just verbal. If its over a car accident or something, they may kick or punch the cars, very seldom each other.
Its a different mind set to the west where its punch first and talk later.
Have no fears, you and the girls are going to have the best time you can imagine.Relax and enjoy!whats it like to cruise the nile from luxor to cairo?Q) just returned from egypt after two weeks and want to see more of it
A) This trip is not available now but may be in the near future again. It was 2 weeks long and nice trip that passes by many cities of Egypt.
You didn't mention what you already have seen to tell you about what else to see. Have you seen Abu Simbel, Saqqara, Nubia. Did you go to Hurghada, Sharm, Dahab, Nuweiba, Taba, St. Catherine.
Did you see Alexandria and the Biblotica, Qait bey fortress, the roman theatre, Montazah.
Did you go to North coast Marsa Matrouh, Alamien, Romel cave, Celiopatra's bath, Aguiba.
There are still many monuments and others besides monuments. Get a good map and tell me which direction you like.
egypt cruise?Q) How do i get the least expensive fare
A) If you go th the Egyptian Government Department of Tourism site Called Tour Egypt you will be able to find many ads for Nile Cruises, especially from using links in the Luxor section.
You could also just do a Google on Nile cruises.
I would choose a good boat and all inclusive fare over a cruise 20 or 25 dollars a night cheaper. It is usually a once in a lifetime experience,so why not make the best of it.
I can definatley recommend:
w.w.w.abercrombiekent.com
Trading as Abercrombie and Kent they are a long established reputable company that offer top of the line cruises and you can book from Australia ,U.K. or U.S.A.
They are a very well known for having very good ships, this is important.Their prices are all inclusive which is something you have to compare when pricing and comparing cruises. The food is resturant level and the ships and rooms are kept very clean, also the staff are great fun.
You should expect to pay around $80-$120 dollars a night for a middle of the range cruise, all inclusive except for drinks.breakfast and dinner are provided as is on board entertainment.
The usual duration is 3-5 days.
I would recommend taking the cruise over a felluca ,unless you are the hardy out doors type who enjoys roughing it a bit.
Although the fellucca boys are very obliging and charming to their guests.
Most of the itineraries are almost the same!
But choose a cruise that has as many options to visit historical sights as possible, over on board entertainment. You will miss some of the wealth of Egypt otherwise.
The riverside life is fascinating and beautiful.
On board is heaven, lazing by the pool in the evening after a day of sight seeing.
The feeling of cruising on the Nile is a memory that will remain forever.

A) You're creepy man! I'd be very surprised if some girl goes for this. Even if someone does it'll be taking the pi$$.Has anyone gone on a cruise to Egypt and gotten a VISA there?Q) I am going on a Costa Cruise and it stops in Egypt. I know I need a VISA to get into Egypt but was told I could get it when I arrive there. I was hoping someone could tell me how long it takes to get the visa on the spot once you arrive. Should I get it beforehand or is it not a big deal to get it once I arrive?
A) Just to back up what the other answerers have said, there is absolutly no hassle in getting your visa on arrival in Egypt Whether arriving by plane or cruise ship at any city or a major resort you can get your visa on the spot.
It is absolutly no big deal takes about 3-5 minutes, max.
You are going to love Egypt! I'm sure a cruise stop is not going to be enough for you and you will want to come back.
There is just so much to see and experience.
So relax and enjoy.can someone tell about Meditteranean Cruise Egypt Cyprus Turkey Greece ???plz wat about offers and how muchA) Well I have been on a cruise in the Mediterranean sea. We stopped in several ports, like Syria, Lebanon, Cyprus, Rhodes and Turkey (Antalya). From my experience, you will spend a lot of time in the sea, sailing from one port to the next. And because there are many ports included in the package, you get to spend less time in every city. If you really like the cruise idea, then maybe you can choose a cruise where only 2 cities are included, so you have more time seeing them, and won't spend most of the time sailing.
In every city, you are free to choose whether you want to be on your own, or join a tour. There is usually a tour guide for every city. Sometimes dinner is also included.
I would also suggest that you make sure of the quality of the rooms and the food on the ship before you go.can someone tell about Meditteranean Cruise Egypt Cyprus Turkey Greece ???plz wat about offers and how muchA) My recommendation would be Oceania Cruises. Most mass market cruise lines (Royal Caribbean, Princess, Holland-America) don't really include Cyprus or Egypt in their ports of call, however, Oceania provides some unique itineraries, which is what distinguishes the line from the others.
Oceania is considered a premium cruise line and has excellent accommodations and by far some of the best dining at sea. Their shortest cruise is 10 days.
Many itineraries are offered with a 2 for 1 pricing, but the starting pricing ranges from $2600-3500 (meaning the regular price would be double these figures) per person. However, these sailings generally include free round trip economy air from a number of US gateway cities. Others may have a supplement of $199 or so for the air. Still not a bad deal.
The daily cost of a cruise and air for an Oceania cruise will be very close to the cost of a 7-day cruise and air on one of the mass market carriers.

Good luck! Are there cruise ship lines that travel to Greece and Egypt?Q)
I am not sure what you mean from where? I want a cruise that allows you to dock in Greece and Egypt. I don't think it matters where I leave from as long as it stops in those two places and doesn't last longer than like 10 days.
A) if you tell us from where, I am sure we can help you
a: these sites will give you more information and prices

Or you can combine a cruise to Greek islands with a cruise to Egypt (back-to-back) from Cyprus:
http://www.cruisecyprus.com/salamis.htm
http://www.louiscruises.com/Are there any cruise service or ferry available from greece to egypt ?A) Unfortunately no, the only way to go to Egypt is either by plane ( direct flight ) or to come and visit Cyprus also and from here there are cruises ( 2 nights - 1 day Cairo and Pyramids) twice a week by Salamis Cruises or Louis Cruises. Also available 5day Nile cruise ( Cairo, Pyramids, Aswan, Luxor, Valley of the kings)Plizzzzz......tell me about cairo and nile cruise, and where is the great spot in egypt for buying some books?A) Avoid the summer months- too hot.
Cairo worth seeing for the pyramids and the museum.
Nile cruises are between Luxor and Aswan ( very good bookshop in Luxor your guide will direct you).
On the Nile cruise between Luxor and Aswan you will stop off daily at various temples along the way - all worth seeing.
Don't forget Abu Simbel at the southern end of Lake Nasser but try to get a boat cruise down to it and you stay there for a day
It is very impressive when approached from the lake but if you go by air or road from Aswan you only get about and hour there.
